AFA fixative (acetic acid-formalin-alcohol) is a histological fixative suitable for rapid tissue fixation, preservation of glycogen and central nervous system tissues, and cytoplasmic fixation when RNA digestion needs to be performed. This fixative prevents the dissolution of carbohydrates before the protein component is fully fixed.
