POLYSORBATE 80 has been widely used in biochemical applications to solubilize proteins, isolate cell nuclei, cultivate tubercle bacilli, and emulsify substances in medical and food products. It has little to no antibacterial activity and may even reduce the antibacterial effect of methylparaben and related compounds.
