Eosin Y is a ready-to-use aqueous counterstain based principaly used in histology for routine hematoxylin and eosin staining, it can also be used in cytology for rapid cytoplasmic staining of stat specimens also using the H&E technique
The aqueous solution is preferred when alcohol is desired to be avoided or when the mounting medium is aqueous.
