Weigert's iron Hematoxylin is a staining solution obtained by mixing two solutions (solution A, solution B) directly before use, it's used mostly in combination with various special (trichrome) stains in trichrome staining methods due to its resistance to acid solutions, it retains the dye and stains nuclear membranes unlike standard hematoxylins used in histology, such as Harris, Mayer, and Gill hematoxylins.
Mix one (1) volume of solution A with one (1) volume of solution B to obtain the working solution, this solution is stable for approximately one week, the solution is to be exchanged as soon as the cell nuclei turn brown.
